We are giving a talk at the London Wetland Centre on Sunday, 30th May 2010 at 12pm. If you are free and don’t live too far away then we would love to see you there!
We will be talking about our recent trip to the Falkland Islands and illustrating the presentation with lots and lots of photographs! We will reveal how we took some of our favourite pictures and tell you a bit about the animals themselves. There will be some time at the end for us to answer any questions you might have. The talk is free once you have paid admission to the Wetland Centre (admission prices can be found here). For an idea of what we will be talking about, take a look at the following posts: Falkland Islands Photography, Penguins, Penguins, Penguins! & Nesting Shags – Varying the Perspective.
It has been a week since we posted the Adventures of BeetleCam article on this blog and since then we have been overwhelmed by the incredible response it has received. BeetleCam has already been featured in national newspapers and we have been interviewed for various TV and radio programmes around the world. It has been a crazy week for us!
One of the stories that has captured peoples’ attention is the mauling of our beloved Canon EOS 400D by a mischievous lioness. In this post we relive the encounter and release previously unseen images.
The modern world of wildlife photography is saturated with thousands of talented photographers producing a huge number of incredible photographs. As a result it is difficult to produce original shots without really pushing the boundaries and striving for new perspectives. Often, this means putting the camera into places that may at first seem impossible.
With this in mind, we were driven to embark upon an ambitious project to photograph African wildlife from a new perspective, one that would involve getting close to potentially dangerous animals and photographing them with a wide-angle lens. Traditionally, this has been achieved using camera traps – stationary cameras triggered when an animal breaks an invisible infra-red beem. The problem with this method is that it requires a great deal of time, patience and luck. We therefore decided to invent something a little more proactive! And so BeetleCam was conceived; a DSLR camera mounted on top of a four-wheel drive remote control buggy.
We will soon be announcing our latest exciting project. For now checkout this short teaser video we have produced…
